were at the highest level in the past 11 months.

bringing this agricultural product to 27,000 tons, with a turnover of
more than 117 million USD, an increase of 4.2% in volume and an increase
of 5.1% in turnover compared to the previous month; increase 2.2% in
volume and 40.4% in turnover compared to the same period in 2023.
Accumulated
in the first 4 months of 2024, pepper exports reached 83,783 tons, with
a turnover of more than 353 million USD, down 18.3% in volume, but up
11.5% in turnover compared to the same period in 2023.
Since
then, the average export price of pepper in April 2024 increased for
the 4th consecutive month, reaching 4,342 USD/ton, up 0.8% over the
previous month and up 37.4% over the same period in 2023. Calculated In
the first 4 months of 2024, the average export price of pepper reached
4,214 USD/ton, an increase of 36.4% over the same period in 2023.
This
time last year, a sudden increase in demand from the Chinese market
after Covid-19 helped the amount of pepper exports increase sharply. But
by the end of 2023, low prices caused the billion-dollar export target
to be missed. This year, although only 1/3 of the time of 2024 has
passed, the turnover has reached over 350 million USD.
It
is forecasted that in the coming time, pepper prices will continue to
increase, which will help this agricultural industry reach the 1 billion
USD export mark this year. Although China has sharply reduced
purchases, thanks to low supply and diverse export markets, Vietnamese
pepper is more likely to achieve the set target.
