Today's pepper price was updated at 4:30 a.m. on January 8, 2025 as follows: Domestic pepper prices increased sharply, the increase was from 1.000 - 2.000 VND/kg, in which many localities recorded pepper prices above 150.000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in the province Gia Lai recorded an increase of 1.000 VND/kg compared to the previous trading session, currently being purchased at 149.500 VND/kg; similarly, pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau increased by 1.000 VND/kg, currently at 150.000 VND/kg; pepper price in the province Dak Nong increased by 1.000 VND/kg, the current purchase price in this locality is up to 151.000 VND/kg, the highest in the country; pepper price in the province Dak Lak increased by 1.500 VND/kg, currently at 150.500 VND/kg; in the province alone Binh Phuoc Pepper price increased by 2.000 VND/kg and is being purchased at 150.000 VND/kg.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the month of December 2024, Vietnam imported about 3.750 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 2.777 tons and white pepper reached 973 tons, with a total import turnover of 20,9 million USD, down 14,4% of import volume compared to the previous month.
In 2024, Vietnam also imported 36.727 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 31.755 tons, white pepper reached 4.972 tons, total import turnover reached 176,2 million USD, compared to 2023, import volume increased by 38,4%, turnover increased by 99,5%.
According to statistics, Indonesia, Brazil and Cambodia are the three largest pepper suppliers to Vietnam in 3, reaching 2024 tons, 17.194 tons and 9.558 tons respectively. Of which, imports from Indonesia and Cambodia increased sharply by 6.798% and 431,2%, while imports from Brazil decreased by 80,7%.

In addition, in 2024, Vietnam exported a total of 250.600 tons of pepper of all kinds, of which black pepper reached 220.269 tons and white pepper reached 30.331 tons. The total export turnover reached 1,32 billion USD, including black pepper 1,117 billion USD, white pepper 200,6 million USD. Compared to 2023, the export volume decreased by 5,1%, but the turnover increased by 45,4%.
The US is Vietnam's largest pepper export market in 2024, estimated at about 72.311 tons, up 33,2% compared to 2023 and accounting for 28,9% of the market share. This is also the highest export volume ever to this market.
China, the US and the EU are major consumer markets, expected to increase imports in 2025. China alone imported 9.677 tons of pepper in the first 11 months of 2024, up 15,1% in volume and 42,1% in value over the previous year.

Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 4:30 a.m. on January 8, 2025 as follows: The world pepper market increased slightly and stabilized at a fairly high level. In particular, pepper prices in Indonesia continued to increase slightly, increasing from 10 - 13 USD/ton.
Specifically, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 6.852 USD/ton (up 10 USD/ton) compared to the previous trading session, similarly, the price of Muntok white pepper was purchased at 8.966 USD/ton (up 13 USD/ton).
The Malaysian pepper market remains high, currently the price of Malaysian ASTA black pepper is purchased at 8.600 USD/ton compared to the previous trading session; the price of ASTA white pepper is at 10.900 USD/ton.
The Brazilian pepper market is stable, with little fluctuation compared to the previous trading session, currently at 6.325 USD/ton.
The export price of Vietnamese black pepper is stable, increasing slightly, currently reaching 6.400 USD/ton for 500 g/l and 550 USD/ton for 6.700 g/l; the price of white pepper is high at 9.600 USD/ton.
