Overall, domestic pepper prices increased from 1,000 to 2,500 VND/kg last week compared to the previous week. Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak had the strongest increase last week of 2,500 VND/kg. Dak Nong increased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to the previous week. Other localities such as Gia Lai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc also increased by 1,000 VND/kg.

Domestic pepper prices are at a five-year high, up 15-18% year-on-year. This price level encourages farmers to renovate their gardens and apply sustainable farming techniques, while businesses are encouraged to invest heavily in deep processing and clean processing to meet the standards of the EU, US, and Middle East markets.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the market outlook is positive as global supplies are stable. Vietnam has completed the 2025 crop with favorable weather conditions, laying the foundation for the 2026 crop.

Demand from China and Western markets is currently moderate, but the participation of three major suppliers, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil, is expected to make the market more vibrant in the second half of the year. This is especially important as markets prepare for the year-end consumer purchasing period.

The recent price increase is believed to be the result of limited supply as farmers are not selling in large quantities, while demand from processing and exporting enterprises remains high. In this context, pepper prices are likely to remain stable or increase further in the short term, especially when the market enters the large order season.

Pepper price today August 11 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on August 9 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,147 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,991 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000/tonne.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,250/ton. Meanwhile, the country's ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,500/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950/ton.

Pepper export prices also increased sharply last week. Specifically, the price of Indonesian black pepper increased by 84 USD/ton compared to last week. The export price of Vietnamese black pepper also increased by 100 USD/ton. In Malaysia, the price of ASTA Malaysian black pepper skyrocketed by 350 USD/ton.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper increased by 118 USD/ton last week. Malaysian ASTA white pepper increased by 750 USD/ton compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the export price of white pepper increased by 100 USD/ton.

According to Harris Spice, the market has been quiet recently as speculators and buyers have largely stayed on the sidelines. Demand from China has not increased as expected, while Western countries have also slowed down due to sufficient supply in the consumer market. Farmers continue to hold on to their goods, not wanting to sell at current prices.

Tariff uncertainties have weighed on demand, especially after the US announced new reciprocal tariffs. Concerns about the price impact have reduced activity among both buyers and speculators, while selling pressure has also eased as supplies in producing regions have dried up. Prices have therefore remained flat.

Harris Spice forecasts pepper prices to remain sideways until there is more clarity on supply and demand. New crop production in Indonesia may provide short-term stability, but the larger impact will come from the Brazilian harvest in the medium term. On the demand side, the US import tariffs imposed on all major pepper producing countries will be a key factor in determining price movements.
