The Pepper market on April 28, 2024 recorded a decrease in key provinces over the past week

Pepper prices today  fluctuate between 96,000 - 97,000 VND/kg. Compared to the beginning of the week, key provinces decreased by 500 - 1,500 VND/kg.

Update domestic pepper prices

Pepper prices  decreased in key provinces last week. Accordingly, pepper transaction prices decreased by about 500 - 1,500 VND/kg in the surveyed provinces.

In detail, the current highest pepper price is 97,000 VND/kg, recorded in Binh Phuoc province after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg.

Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces decreased by 500 - 1,500 VND/kg to the general level of 96,500 VND/kg, on par with Dong Nai province.

Traders in Dak Nong are buying pepper at the lowest price of 96,000 VND/kg, down 1,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of the week.

Update pepper information

According to preliminary statistics of VPSA, Vietnam's pepper imports in the first quarter reached 7,988 tons, up 2.2% over the same period in 2023. Of which, black pepper reached 7,663 tons, white pepper reached 325 tons.

Brazil and Cambodia are the two main pepper suppliers to Vietnam reaching 4,363 tons and 2,084 tons. However, over the same period, imports from Brazil decreased by 16.3%, while Cambodia increased by 66.5%.

Olam was the largest pepper importer in the first quarter with a volume of 3,138 tons, accounting for 39.3% and up 0.7% over the same period last year. Pearl accounted for 13.1% reaching 1,043 tons, down 21.7%, Lien Thanh accounted for 11.5% reaching 919 tons and increased 209.4% over the same period.

According to data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in March reached 25,917 tons, worth 111.6 million USD, up 92.7% in volume and doubling in value compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period last year, it decreased by 27.3% in volume but increased by 5% in value.

Accumulated to the end of the first quarter, pepper exports reached 56,783 tons, worth 235.8 million USD, down 25.4% in volume, but up 1.1% in value over the same period last year thanks to high prices. .

In March, the average export price of Vietnam's pepper reached 4,305 USD/ton, an increase of 6.3% over the previous month and a sharp increase of 44.5% over the same period last year. In the first quarter, the average export price of pepper reached 4,153 USD/ton, up 35.5% over the same period.
