Today, pepper prices worldwide remain unchanged. According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper production in many countries is expected to decline in 2025 due to unfavorable weather conditions, with Indonesia experiencing a 10% decrease, Sri Lanka a 20% decrease, and India a more significant 32% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
A report from the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) also indicates that global pepper supply is projected to decrease sharply by 15-20% in 2026, as inventories in most major producing countries are low.
In Indonesia, current inventories stand at only around 13,000 tons, the lowest level in many years. In Vietnam, although production is expected to increase slightly to around 195,000 tons in 2025, reserves are not substantial.
According to information presented at the VPSA Annual Conference, Mr. Le Viet Anh, General Secretary of the Association, stated that pepper stocks from 2022-2023 have been depleted, and the amount carried over to 2026 mainly consists of goods from the past two years, estimated at around 40,000 tons.

In 2026, businesses may continue to increase imports as global demand is projected to rise, while domestic production is likely to decrease by 15-20%.
