Pepper Market on May 11, 2025: Sharp decline at the end of the week

Pepper prices today (May 11) in the domestic market fluctuated from 151,000 - 152,000 VND/kg. Overall, pepper prices have decreased by 3,000 - 5,000 VND/kg for the whole week.

According to data from the International Pepper Community (IPC), last week, black pepper prices in Indonesia and Malaysia decreased by 0.23% and 1.08% respectively compared to the previous week, down to USD 7,323/ton and USD 9,200/ton.

Meanwhile, the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 remained stable at 6,800 USD/ton. The price of Vietnamese black pepper continued to fluctuate in the range of 6,700 - 6,800 USD/ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l.

At the same time of survey, the price of Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased slightly by 0.23% compared to last week, down to 9,918 USD/ton.

Vietnam white pepper and Malaysia ASTA white pepper prices remained stable throughout the week at USD 9,700/ton and USD 11,900/ton.

Update pepper information

According to  Nhan Dan Newspaper , Dak Nong province currently has nearly 34 thousand hectares of pepper, with an output of about 70 thousand tons/crop; ranking first in the country in terms of area and second in terms of output (after Dak Lak province). To develop the pepper industry sustainably, the province is focusing on improving quality and developing value chain linkages, applying good agricultural production processes (GAP).

Up to now, Dak Nong has 10 sustainable pepper production and consumption chains; including 2 production groups, 5 cooperatives, 2 enterprises with a total area of ​​1,630 hectares. The whole province has more than 1,000 households participating in long-term pepper production links associated with certification standards, with an output of more than 3,800 tons/crop. All of these chains are developing strongly in both scale and production value.

In addition, Dak Nong province has 24 pepper production facilities according to certified standards, with an area of ​​over 3,100 hectares. Currently, 2 high-tech pepper production areas have been recognized in Thuan Ha and Thuan Hanh communes, Dak Song district with a total area of ​​1,549.4 hectares.

High-tech pepper producers in recognized areas are guaranteed products according to organic and Rainforest standards, and are certified with the collective brand name Dak Song Pepper and the geographical indication of Dak Nong Pepper; creating favorable conditions for high-tech pepper products to have higher value and expand the consumption market.

The province will focus on developing the value chain linkage of the pepper industry associated with linkages in production and consumption of products through concentrated production areas. Focus on improving productivity and product quality; promote the advantages of geographical indications of Dak Nong pepper products to build product brands, moving towards strongly affirming the Dak Nong pepper brand in the market.

The provincial agricultural sector has been focusing on implementing groups of solutions to reorganize production according to the industry value chain, including planning and developing large-scale raw material areas.
